Brothers for the River

On August 26, 2006, Joe and Ben Palmquist will paddle out of Lake Itasca, the headwaters of the Mississippi River, with hopes of becoming Brothers for the River. Over the ensuing three months, we will travel all 2,552 miles of the Mississippi River by canoe in hopes of bringing awareness to the critical issues that face the river today. We will spread our message through this website, our blog, media coverage, and talking to as many people as possible along our trip.

Day 50: 10/25/06

Louisiana? That was quick! Awe dang it's only Louisiana, MO.

While passing Louisiana, MO Joe and Ben cross the 1,000 mile mark. Joe celebrates by screaming like he did when we saw our first flying Asian carp later in the day. Unfortunately, we don't have a picture of that!

Ben shows his excitement by signing the milestone...can you call that signing?
