Day 65: 11/10/06

On August 26, 2006, Joe and Ben Palmquist will paddle out of Lake Itasca, the headwaters of the Mississippi River, with hopes of becoming Brothers for the River. Over the ensuing three months, we will travel all 2,552 miles of the Mississippi River by canoe in hopes of bringing awareness to the critical issues that face the river today. We will spread our message through this website, our blog, media coverage, and talking to as many people as possible along our trip.

Way to go guys! We are proud of you. Best of luck in New Orleans! We'll keep checking the site.

I think the State of Arkansas has it all wrong. The Arkansas river is pronounced ar-kan-sas, like the State of Kansas with "ar" in front. The state should be proununced like the river. Afterall, it is all about the river!
Good Luck!
